Join Team Psycho and Friends at the 38th Annual New Year’s Day Run!

Jan 1st, 12:00 noon. Start: Marathon Sports, Wellesley. Finish (11 miles along the marathon course): Corner Tavern, Boston.

For 37 years, a bunch of us have been running the last 11 miles of the Boston Marathon course from Marathon Sports in Wellesley in to Boston on New Year’s Day. Though we used to end at the Eliot Lounge (RIP) hence the nickname the Welly-Elly, this year it ends at the Corner Tavern at 421 Marlborough St in Boston (just two blocks down Mass Ave from the Eliot Hotel.) You can also run less (bring T money)...or none...and meet us at the Corner Tavern anyway to toast in the New Year!

We usually have 8-12 Psychos, a smattering of BTT runners, charity runners from MS and Dana Farber, Eliot bartenders, and other random (but special!) friends.

No entry fee, no timing…just a tradition that some of us like to keep going because it is a fun way to start the year. Food and beer is for purchase at the Corner Tavern.

You can drop dry clothes/backpacks at the Corner Tavern at 11 am and a few of us will be able to carpool some people to the start. You can also take the T from the Hynes to Woodland and run an extra mile or so to Marathon Sports.

We will also have someone who can bring backpacks from Wellesley to the bar if you want to meet at Marathon Sports just before noon. FYI: Marathon Sports will be open for bathrooms but not for purchases. Let me know if you plan to come and need a ride or bag transport.

Whether you are in bed by 9pm on New Year’s Eve or still celebrating to the wee hours like you were in your 20’s, the NYD run is the best way to make amends for what you did the night before!

Happy Holidays,
Karen
